Job Description

Onin Staffing is seeking an Engineering Assistant to join our team! You will perform clerical and administrative functions in order to drive company success. In this position you will be responsible for assisting with all areas of the Fire Fabrication Shop.

You must be comfortable with traveling to IN to train with the company's Administrative Assistant for 2 months, upon hire. All travel will be paid for by the company.

Job Requirements


• Interact daily with supervisor and manager to assist them with assembling job plans and paperwork, equipment submittals, and assure all inventory of pipe and fittings are updated electronically

• Maintain and update welder database and spreadsheets for fabrication shop, field welder’s/operators manual

• Maintain various division file information such as time sheets and project archives

• Payroll for all shop employees, scan wage slips to payroll department

• Distribute checks to supervisors / employees

• Maintain attendance records and employee files

• Weekly attendance and overtime sheets for supervisors

• Incoming foreman’s kits: Print out drawings, stamp and highlight, print out stock lists and label files

• Communicate with designers on stock list errors, material ordering, etc.

• Log in date to shop, weights, welds into job track

• Keep an updated truck schedule at all times

• Send out weekly email to designers for needed stock lists

• Update pipe inventory database with all incoming and outgoing pipe

• IRT's coordinate by UPS or add to trucks

• Incoming calls and calls from dispatchers for delivery of pipes and materials

• Ordering shop and office supplies

• Help HR with obtaining benefit work for current employees and new hires, Also any needed employee information for HR

• Log and printout employee badges

• Log in all incoming applications and set up interviews when needed

• Maintain spreadsheet for safety hours

• Assist shop manager and supervisors as needed

• Other duties as assigned


  • • High School Diploma or equivalent

    • 3-5 years minimum of administrative office experience

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills

    • Dependable

    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

    • Lotus Notes experience preferred, but not required

    • Must be able to multi-task and be very organized

    • Must be a self-starter and able to work with diverse group of construction personnel

    • Proficient with time management

  • Must be able to work some weekends and overtime
  • Must be able to interview and start ASAP
  • Come from a Manufacturing/Construction Background
  • Work in a fast paced environment
